OK, the bad news first, not all existing equipment can be made to perform like new, properly designed equipment .. but.. you can get improved output from almost every kiln and many dryers. In some cases they can be made to perform as well as any new, well designed equipment and can add a significant amount to your bottom line.

We know that good kiln performance is based more on the design of the heat transfer system than the equipment attached to the unit. If your kiln can be made to transfer heat more uniformly you can get faster fires (more production per year) and better product quality (happier customers). The equipment attached to the kiln may not affect these things at all.

Although kilns look quite simple, they are, in fact, one of the most complicated pieces of equipment in the factory. Some of the complicated looking equipment appears so only because of the piping or wiring attached, but the equipment is actually quite straight forward in its design. Kilns, on the other hand, are very deceptive in their appearance. One way to test the design ideas of people who are trying to help you out, is to ask them to guarantee that the kiln will not only work, but have them tell you what exactly the kiln will do and have them guarantee that as well. Don't forget to be sure that they will be willing to bid on installing the stuff and start the equipment up.
